Daylilies (Hemerocallis)
Hemerocallis, Latin for daylily, means "beauty for a day." Incredibly resilient, these long-lived plants are tolerant of a broad range of conditions.
Newer introductions have larger flowers and stronger stems. We are pleased to offer some of the best performing and most beautiful varieties you will find.
Provide a sunny location with well-drained, moderately fertile, moisture-retentive soil.
Provide about 1" per week of water during the growing season. Will tolerate light shade.
Use as specimen plants, groundcovers, or plant in containers.
We ship freshly harvested, choice, bare root, double-fan divisions. Occasionaly we ship, large, single fan divisions for varieties with low inventory amounts. Daylilies ship weekly from April through November, weather permitting.
Recommended to be hardy in USDA Zones 3-10.
Hybridizer credit is listed under the name of each variety.
Klehm Daylily Cultivars
Our offerings, many of which are exclusive, are representative of the finest modern hybrids by Roy Klehm. These vareities are selected and only offered after a vigorous testing and selection program to ensure complete success and satisfaction.
Robert Griesbach Sr.
As an Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Biological Sciences at De Paul University for 14 years, Bob was a distinguished lecturer on Genetics and Plant Physiology. Earlier at the University of Chicago he spearheaded revolutionary work in the development and introduction of polyploidy from original diploid stock. Such techniques resulted in a significantly greater range of variability in the polyploid progeny. After breeding Gladiolus for 25 years, daylilies became a major focus of his attention and he was a leading early pioneer in breeding red flowered varieties. His work in introducing polyploidy into the true lilies has received international acclaim. Bob continues his interest in breeding and growing daylilies and true lilies near our farm in Wisconsin. We are honored to offer two of his latest outstanding daylilies H. 'Caroline' and H. 'Gracie Buttercup' named for two of his granddaughters.

Brother Charles Reckamp
Brother Charles Reckamp, a long time devoted member of The Society of the Divine Word in Techny, Illinois, was not only a beloved and treasured friend, but a true giant in the daylily breeding world.
Employing focused and disciplined line breeding, and concentrating on such specific floral characteristics as form, texture, subtle coloring and complimentary ruffling, combined with flower count and overall health and vigor, his progeny reflect a life long dedication to floral excellence. Since his passing, Roy Klehm has continued to refine the outstanding achievements of his mentor Brother Charles. It is with humility and pride that we continue to offer the latest and most outstanding new hybrid creations that continue to celebrate the life and work of Brother Charles.
