Handsome, substantial woody vine for a shady spot. This Climbing Hydrangea has lacy blooms in early to midsummer comprised of large (6-8"), flat-topped clusters of sweetly fragrant, ivory white flowers. Glossy, dark green foliage. Upright vines will produce horizontal side branching that creates a sculptured look for the garden. Reddish brown, exfoliating bark adds winter interest.
Slower growing initially, but once established, growth rate increases. Climbs by twining and also by aerial rootlets along the stems. Provide a sturdy support such as a wall or arbor, let it ramble and spill over stone walls and other low structures, or allow it to trail and branch out along the ground.
