Formal, extremely narrow, conical form of White Spruce with abruptly pendulous, stiffly held drooping branches that are heavily covered with small light gray-green needles. Initially propagated from a wild specimen in Ontario, Canada, this unique and beautiful specimen was nearly lost to cultivation before being rescued by The Morton Arboretum in Illinois. The late, great conifer authority Jean Iseli was the initial propagator. Requires staking the leading shoot during the early years to establish an upright habit. Picea 'Pendula' creates a superb focal point in the landscape.
