This very rare, excellent, medium to small tree was selected for its pendulous growth habit. Syringa pekinensis 'Pendula' has creamy white blooms in large, cascading trusses in early summer. The leaves turn yellow-green to russet in autumn. Raised by F. L. Temple, whose original plant originated from the seed lot received by the Arnold Arboretum in 1882. Interesting as a focal point, as part of a Lilac collection, or in an heirloom garden.
