Fresh, grape-purple and white blossoms reach 7" above a low 5" mound of bright green, heart-shaped foliage. The medium-sized leaves emerge with a bronze tint in early spring. Deciduous. Epimedium 'Grape Fizz' has long lasting blooms and is wonderful with other diminutive shade plants such as miniature Hosta.
Spring-blooming Epimedium are delicate looking plants with a strong constitution, tolerating deep shade and tree root competition. Ideally they enjoy well drained, organic soil with even moisture, but they are also drought resistant when established, making them a great choice for dry shade. Very appealing, refined foliage. A long-lived perennial for the front of a shady bed, as a groundcover, or in woodland gardens. Deer resistant. Epimedium are also known as Barrenwort, Bishop's Hat, or Fairy Wings.
