A frothy wave of starry, lavender-blue flowers with ivory centers begin in late spring to early summer and bloom until early fall. Clematis 'Arabella' is non-twining, so let it lean on a shrub, climb through a rose, scramble through a perennial bed, or use soft ties to help it grow on an obelisk. Good for cut flowers.
This is a very long bloomer for us; it provides a nice backdrop for Peonies (and to tuck into bouquets with them), and is still repeating for us in late September. Its color and habit make it an excellent companion to many other blooms.
