A wonderful clump-forming Sedge with powdery blue-green leaves up to 1" or more in width. Plant Carex platyphylla in mass for a wonderfully textured groundcover, combine it with Hosta or Heuchera for interesting leaf contrast, or use this North American native plant as part of a woodland planting. Prefers good drainage and rich soils. Established plants are tolerant of moist, average, or dry soil. Carex platyphylla is a good choice for difficult dry shade areas. Trim in late winter to early spring. Deer resistant.
