Iris ensata, known as Japanese Iris, bloom in early to midsummer, and nicely extend the Iris season. Their slender upright foliage is lovely all season long. They have large blooms that are typically 6-8" across and make good cut flowers. Will grow in average garden soil with regular watering, but ideally prefer rich, moisture retentive, acid soil.
