Rich velvety chocolate purple flowers held on upright stems in late spring to early summer. Keeps a densely compact habit as the plant matures, making this a good Baptisia for smaller gardens. The leaves start low on the stems for a full look. Vigorous grower. A Proven Winners® plant selection.
Baptisia, also known as False Indigo, has attractive blue-green foliage and ornamental seed pods. A wonderful and long-lived choice for perennial borders, cottage gardens, or mingled with native plants in a meadow or prairie type planting. It is drought tolerant when established, deer resistant, and attracts butterflies. Good for cut flowers. The Decadence® series of Baptisia were chosen for their desirable colors and relatively compact size.
