Pastel pink, 2 to 2-1/2", flowers are held on strong, well-branched stems creating a carpet of blooms that cover the foliage in midsummer. The dark green foliage forms an upright clump with enough vigor to quickly fill out containers but is not aggressive in the garden. In the Sugar Buzz® Series of Monarda that are compact growers and display above average resistance to powdery mildew.
Monarda, also known as Bee Balm, is native to eastern North America. Very attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Deer resistant. The aromatic foliage smells like mint when crushed. Grow Monarda in the middle or front of a border, in cottage gardens, and containers.
