Deep red buds open to 7-8" hot cerise red flowers. Large green, maple-like leaves quickly fill in to keep the form looking full and refined. The flowers on Hibiscus 'Summer in Paradise' are produced from the top to the bottom of the plant. Long blooming from mid to late summer into early fall.
This is a perennial-type Hibiscus, not a woody shrub, although the stems are tough and strong. In early spring, cut back any remaining stems before new growth appears. Hibiscus is one of the last perennials to emerge in spring, but grows quickly after it sprouts. Consistent water brings larger flowers and lusher foliage. Grow in a mixed bed, as an accent, or as part of a tropical style setting. Can be used like a small shrub. Mulch heavily for the first winter.
