An Allium with the wow factor! This Ornamental Onion has 1-3/4 to 2" rounded clusters of light amethyst purple flowers in mid to late summer. The narrow, twisty that form a low mound.  Similar in flower color and foliage to Allium 'Blue Eddy', but in a much larger form, reaching up to 24" tall for good garden presence. Variegated leaves on a nicely compact grass-like plant. Dark green foliage edged with bright white makes this Sedge a striking addition to the shade garden. Small, cream, bottlebrush-like flowers are produced in mid-spring but are insignificant compared to the handsome foliage. Deer resistant. Evergreen in its southern range. Grow in average to moist soil. This is one of those plants we like not only for its looks, but also for its "useability". A compact, but not too small size, lets Carex 'Ice Dance' work wonderfully in containers, rain gardens, woodland areas, and borders. A slow to moderate spreader, it can also be used as a ground cover.
Bright gold spring color changes to chartreuse later in the season. This vigorous tetraploid is a sport of C. 'Cream da Mint', featuring larger flowers in May and berries in late summer. Explodes with sprays of small, silvery pink flowers held well above the foliage. The leaves fan outward only 3" tall in bloom, with flower stems to 7". A second flush of leaves reaches 10". A little direct sun encourages blooms. Epimedium 'Pink Star' is fast growing with an evergreen nature.
